Spotted this cute little friend when I was resting. Came near my legs without much hesitation and seems like asking for food. After much observation seeing her persistently running around hoping to get some result, I can’t help but to spare some food with this little cutey.

Nearer to the Base Camp, as I glazed through the plantation towards the mountain. I thought I’m back to the Jurassic age!

I just love the scene and elements around me when ascending to higher ground.

After six hours of steep ascending in steps, we arrive at the Base Camp (LABAN RATA).

Giant Panda

Hi! My name is Yang Yang. I’m a giant Panda living at Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuary in Chengdu, China together with my 350 fellow giant pandas. When I was born, I was not bigger than your thumb. But don’t worry, baby panda grows fast. That’s because panda eats a lot. My favourite food is Aero Bamboo. Only this species of bamboo, not other. I eat a lot – about 50 kg of aero bamboo per day (costs about U$50). My daily activities are sleeping, eating, and playing. I sleep 14 hours per day.

I’m still young. My senior, Jing Jing (15 years old), could play basket ball, ride bicycle and do some acrobates. He has been travelling a lot as special guest from zoo to zoo around the world. Jing Jing is so famous, that you have to pay RMB 12,000 to take picture with him. I want to be as famous as Jing Jing someday.

The Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca, literally meaning “cat-foot black-and-white”) is a bear native to central-western and southwestern China. The Giant Panda was previously thought to be a member of the Procyonidae (raccoon) family. It is easily recognized by its large, distinctive black patches around the eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. Though belonging to the order Carnivora, the Giant Panda has a diet which is 99% bamboo.

The Giant Panda has a black-and-white coat. Adults measure around 1.5 m long and around 75 cm tall at the shoulder. Males are 10–20% larger than females. Males can weigh up to 150 kg (330 pounds). Females are generally smaller than males, and can occasionally weigh up to 125 kg (275 pounds)

The Giant Panda has a body shape typical of bears. It has black fur on its ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, and shoulders. The rest of the animal’s coat is white. Although scientists do not know why these unusual bears are black and white, some speculate that the bold coloring provides effective camouflage into its shade-dappled snowy and rocky surroundings. The Giant Panda’s thick, wooly coat keeps it warm in the cool forests of its habitat. The Giant Panda has large molar teeth and strong jaw muscles for crushing tough bamboo.

The Giant Panda’s paw has a “thumb” and five fingers; the “thumb” is actually a modified sesamoid bone, which helps the Giant Panda to hold bamboo while eating.

The Giant Panda can usually live to be 25–30 years old in captivity.

Bambi The Young Red Deer

Large deer widely distributed throughout Europe, Asia and North Africa. A full-grown male (stag or hart) stands 1.2 m/4 ft at the withers, and typical antlers measure about 80 cm/31 in in length with a spread of about the same. During the breeding season the colour is a rich brown, turning grey at the approach of winter. The young are spotted with white.

The red deer Cervus elaphus is in family Cervidae, order Artiodactyla.

Peacock Story V

In case you guys ever wonder, where is the daddy.

He is here! Proudly standing on the fence.

He just shed his feathers not too long ago, now they are in the regrowth process.

I will pursue further this beautiful family over the weekend. I hope I can get a clean and sharp shot.

The mother peachick is a little defensive at the moment, so I will need a tele-lens for this.

She got three little siblings, two of them is albino! And the best part is, there she is! Her Mom!

I’m so excited when I saw them and quickly use my phone camera to snap them. Too bad the quality not good. I will take their picture again with better camera.

Hope we can see a family reunion soon!

Peacock Story III

I’ve found a funny looking egg on my rooftop, for those don’t know what I’ve talking about, please read previous post here.

With the help of my office colleagues, we managed to successfully delivered the egg to the aviary dept.

But then the aviary officer told us not so good news.. they don’t know how long the egg has been exposed outside, and it might start to rotten..

Still, they said they will try their best to incubate it. And months has passed…

………………………………..

Few days back, the officer called me to come to their place, after I arrived there, they bring me to back of the office and show me this…..

IT’S A BIRD!!!! IT’S A CHICKEN!!!!, IT’S A WHITE ALBINO PEACHICK !!!!!

I’m sooooooo speechlessss………… and overwhelmed with joy!!

Since we are the one who found it, they gave us the privilege to pick a name for this young Peahen, and we called her, PEARL.

What a suitable name for her, since she barely escaped death, and from the suffering, comes out something so beautiful and majestic!

So, here where the happy story ends… ( or perhaps.. I will continue when she layed her 1st egg.. who know.. )

Peacock story

Yesterday, when I walk around my office, I noticed a strange white round object at my work place…

Look what I’ve found outside my windows….

HUH!!!????

Then I take a closer look….

It’s an EGG!!!!

Then I frantically went to look for its mother nearby….

Oh!! There you are!!!

It’s a Peacock egg!!

I am so excited! quickly I called the related department from the Zoo to pick it up.

Now the egg is being incubated by the Zoo folks, I’ve asked them to keep me posted.

Let’s hope that it hatched into a beautiful baby Peacock !!
