Japanese tradition said, if one folds 1000 origami cranes one’s wish for health will be granted.

This is a true story that have made me blue all of the sudden…

Sadako Sasaki lived one mile from ground zero when the American military dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima. She was two years old.
In late 1954 she developed health problems because radiation exposure. In the first part of 1955 she was diagnosed with leukemia and given one year to live.

While in the hospital, Sadako decided to fold the cranes and ask for her health to be restored. Using whatever paper she could find, she folded over one thousand cranes before she died in October.

After her death, the cranes apply to a wish for peace as well. Friends and Sasaki’ classmates dreamed of building a monument in honor of all the children who died because of the Hiroshima bombing. In 1958, that dream became a reality when a statue of Sadako holding a golden crane was unveiled in Hiroshima Peace Park. The plaque at the bottom of the monument reads:
This is our cry, This is our prayer, Peace in the world.
Sadako Sasaki (1943-1955).

The debate over junk food is never-ending. You’ll want to hate them, but you can’t resist to love them at the same time. You know how baaad it is for your body, especially after watching Supersize Me. For those of you who haven’t watched it, better don’t, you wouldn’t want to touch junk foods for months, and then suddenly, you’ll find yourself missing it and craving it , even more than before! But I am determined to eat healthier than last year (well, at least I’m trying hard to be) so I decided to just befriends with them. I won’t stay away from them and pretended not to see them when I pass by, in fact I will display them proudly… around my neck as a fashion accessories or a burger set origami as a table display.

Scientific Name: Belamcanda chinensis (L.) DC.
Synonym: Gemmingia chinensis Family: Iridaceae

Common name: Leopard Flower, Blackberry lily, Manipuri, Kabo Leiteng, Assamese, Surajakanti, Chalkumra, Torobot

Leopard Flower is an iris-like perennial herb, with leaves in fans on branching stems. Lance-shaped leaves will reach 2 to 3 feet. Flowers are 5 cm across, borne on slender stalks, at the end of stems. They have 6 petals, yellow to orange-red, spotted with maroon or purple, which is what gave it the name leopard flower. Fruit is a black berry. The name Blackberry Lily derives from the clusters of shiny black seeds exposed when seed capsules split open. Blackberry Lilies are native to China and Japan.
