Hey hey hey!!!

I’m back! I simply missed all of you and the hunger of blogging were unbearable.

So, here we go!

Yesterday I went to join Canon Photomarathon 2010 at Suntec Convention Center, Singapore.

The atmosphere were so exciting!

Check out the crowd here!

I was queuing for almost an hour just to submit my first photo! Madness!

Total attendance is more than 1650 photographers!

Here is my first submission. The first theme is Clarity.

Many of the attendance focused on object of visibility. My approach is on hearing clarity.

So I happened to found this handsome young man, hiding at one corner of the music shop experiencing musical bliss.

His expression was captured perfectly.

Next theme is Faith.

I found this old crucifix lied between antiques. I placed it on the top of these ancient copper coins an shot.

This picture was inspired from Matthew 6:33,

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

The last theme: Charge

Basically I shot these lighted stars in slow shutter speed and move my camera while pressing the trigger.

Not my best effort, 12 hours plus of non-stop photoshoot really drained me.

But…

Here a surprise for all of you,

You saw the most right picture on the Nominees panels?

Yes, that is my second theme: Faith photo! I am shortlisted in Canon Photomarathon 2010 Best Works! I am so happy!

Although in the end I was not selected as the winner (I suspect because I am using Nikon? LOL! Kidding!),

this is a huge encouragement for me to put more effort next time!

Last but not least, I wanna thank you all for the encouraging words to keep me blogging!

I LOVE YOU ALL!! :D

The attendance this year is breaking Guinness Book of Record! It’s thousands!

I want to focus more on what I’ve shot rather than the event itself, so here we go.

There are total three themes given with durations about three hours in between, but the event itself dragged till almost 10pm!

The first theme is

TOGETHERNESS

Father and sons

Personally, I like an indirect approach of the theme rather than “in your face” approach like people holding hands, a group taking photos which very normal. I named this photo ” Father and sons” because you can see the togetherness of the piano keys strengthened by the brand of the piano itself that emphasized a family business.

Second theme was…

Motion

Running Shadows

I named this photo ” Running Shadow.” Honestly, I picked up this multiple exposures skill on the spot, so this is the best I can get within the time and places constrain. I can’t find a plain wall within the mall premises. The grainy marble wall worsen the effect, not to mentioned there is a distortion in this picture (notice the horizontal metal lines are distorted?) I will practice harder to get a better result of this technique soon. Thats a promise.

The third and the last theme is…

ENERGY

Bulls Energy

After the disappointed result of the second theme, I’ve decided to go all out on the last theme.

I named this photo ” Bull’s Energy” The message is very simple and straightforward. A model walk away after drank Red Bull Energy Drink. The metal can are smashed to give the effect of the result of the energy drink. The composition is the tricky part and inspired by action movies.

This photo was taken at the carpark basement and the camera was placed on the floor. Due to traffic of cars getting in and out, busybody passerby, this photo consumed a lot of time, but thank God I managed to finished it on time and still got time to help others.

So, overall I feel very happy with the event (even though I found it quite draggy and I didn’t win anything.) I’ve met with numbers of new photographers, picked up new skills and photography tips from the experts. I’ll make sure that I am much prepared next time when an event like this happened again.

I believed krizzcross and Obana will upload their artworks soon!

Dear friends, please leave comment of what you think about my works, which one you like the most, any tips to improve them and maybe about the event itself. I would love to hear your opinions! Thank you! :)
