Today I want to show you guys how important angle, lighting and composition in photography.
For your information, in this set she completely using the same make-up setting.
Below I took a very direct close-up shot of her where you can see her facial details. Simply love her freckled nose :)
She reminded me of Teri Hatcher from Desperate Housewives, only younger. What do you think?
The second shot, I used custom profile in my Nikon D90 to create soft dreamy effect of her feature.
This setting is very suitable for commercial facial product shot. Noticed the details of the freckles are kept minimum?
The third one, again I used my custom profile to make the photo looks sharp and vivid.
As you can see, the highlights of her hair and eyes are really stand out without having to suffer an over-exposed.
This set of profile is suitable for CD album cover or promotional poster.
Did she look quite similar with Shakira, the latin singer? :)
Now, the million dollar question: What on earth are the profiles?
In Nikon camera, they are called as picture control. Once you get to this menu,
there are few option to choose, such as:
- Standard
- Neutral
- Vivid
- Monochrome
- Portrait
From those default setting, you can customize them to your taste and preference.
After you happy with your customized setting, just save it inside the camera.
The hardest part is, to adjust the setting till you get the effect that you wanted.
Keep shooting till you got it! I did it, so can you!

ingimg: I am using natural light (9am) and 3 different reflectors. Switching between gold and silver surfaces.
Petula: Camera only helps up to certain degree. The rest is all about understanding the photography as a whole.
