Chinese New Year 2010: The Souvenirs

by flyingbeagle on February 11, 2010

Golden Tiger is the zodiac for this incoming Lunar New year.

So naturally, various souvenirs with Golden Tiger shaped and drawings are everywhere to be seen.

I believe, this year will be a very good year after all that happened last year.

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Lunar Calendar. The origin of Chinese New Year is itself centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions. Ancient Chinese New Year is a reflection on how the people behaved and what they believed in the most.

I took these shots with my trustee SIGMA 20mm f.1/8 lens, even though Nikon just announced a sparkling brand new  AF-S Nikkor 24mm F/1.4G ED, I shall not be tempted! (Actually, it is simply too costly for me, suggested price is US$2.200!!!) :D

For my non-Chinese friends, do you know what zodiac year you were born in? :) Would love to hear from you!

Great shot & I love CNY. I spent CNY in Hong Kong in 2005 and it was spectacular. I was born in the year of the sheep or goat.

Jo: I heard that the person born in that year are fun and adventurous! Hope you can visit Singapore for the next Chinese New Year! :)

Lenses are always tempting.
But since it’s too risky to ship anything here, I don’t have to even think of it ;)
The shots are beautiful, sigh.
I still only work with my 2 lenses, but it’s alright, they work well enough for me ;)
Not sure what the year was, I was born in in Chinese terms.
But my Zodiac sign is the Rat :)

Nicole: May I know what are those two lenses? :) Rat is the fastest to reach the finish line during Budha’s GP race :D

Kvelli: Sheeps are lovable :)

Those little strings of tigers in the second picture are very cute. Are they for decoration, or necklaces, or ???
