Good Ol’ Times

Saw this blue beauty on set of a commercial shooting. It sure brings back memory, so i couldn’t help myself, and fire away at the Vespa.

I grew up in kinda big family, there were four of us, me, 2 older brothers, and the eldest, my sister. I don’t know why, but my most vivid memory with the vespa was when Superman movie (the Clark Kent version) came out, my dad took us all to see it. We all would fit on that Vespa (sans my mom, of course, she’s not a big fan of western movie) . Me and one of my bro, standing up on the stepper, then my dad, then my other bro and my sister in the back seat. Not only we enjoyed the movie, but also the ride home. Being on the front, i raised both my arms and pretend i could fly like superman, feeling the breeze, and ignoring the exhaust from buses and bajaj (the equivalent of Thailand’s Tuk-Tuk).

Ahhh good memories, triggered by this blue beauty. Maybe next time i could fine a nice old fiat 128, and flashback to another good ol’ memento. What’s your most nostalgic ride?

It always been my dream to own a vespa or scooter. That vespa looks very well maintained.

  4. I only drove a scooter for one week. I was hanging out in Greece (on Kos) and rented a scooter to use for exploring. My memory was mostly a good one except I landed in the ditch once and tipped over a couple of times. I didn’t get hurt, but obviously was very inexperienced on a scooter! I’m better on bicycles, ha ha ha!

  5. I still remember my old days when my dad still own the vespa. Really like it and hope to have one of my own.

I always wanted one of these, but I had to settle for a bicycle. I drive a truck now, but I still want a scooter.

ah the good old days, what a great memory. These days around here if you put all those people on that thing you would get pulled over for sure.

Seems like almost everyone have a fond memory of a scooter. Maybe because they’re designed to be cute and likeable. Hehehe. Have a nice weekend all!

Did I write the “Clark Kent version”? What i meant was the “Christopher Reeves’ version”. Boy, i surely mixed up the two. That proved how mr. Reeves played the character so well.

@ann: It’s still a common practice here in Jakarta, to fit up 5 people into one scooter. It’s no short of a circus performance, really.
