Back in colonial days, Sarangan is a hill station favored by the Dutch. This lake located about 1,600 metres above sea level, at the feet of Mount Lawu, an inactive volcano, Indonesia. It is half way between Madiun and Solo.
Sarangan lake spreads about 30Ha with 28metres depth, also known as Pasir lake (Sand lake) because during the dry season, the water dried up and showing only a huge stretch of sand.
As one of the tourist destinations in East Java, the climate of Sarangan is quite cool and comfortable, the temperature is within 18-25C
There are various facilities in this area, such as; hotel, restaurants, paddle canoe, play ground and horses, which has supplied for the tourists from various region and even foreign tourist.
There’s one thing I don’t like about this place is the garbage around the lake, it’s so sad, the authorities seems doesn’t really care about this matter.
On my way from Madiun to Solo, I just couldn’t resist not to stop and captured this glance of divine beauty that has frozen my eyes.
