Serenity Lake

telaga ngebel

Another beautiful lake near my home town. Telaga Ngebel is located at Ponorogo, East Java, 25km away from central Ponorogo city at the feet of Mt. Wilis.
A bit secluded and compared to Sarangan, this one is bigger and less crowded.

There are not so many activities here, and only have few places to stay overnight. If you’re lucky, sometimes you can see parades of certain ceremony here. People wearing traditional costumes and bring offerings to the god of the lake, wishing for abundance harvest. also you can see their original culture that called as ‘Reog Ponorogo’ that often performs here.

@vanilla7: it was a ‘Nila’ fish farm. A local species of edible fish.

Looks very peaceful. I think it would be neat to see people dressed up in their traditional clothes and watching some of the parades and ceremonies. I think sometimes we take things like that for granted. I am just fascinated with seeing stuff like that. It’s interesting and you can always learn something from it.
