Bambi The Young Red Deer

by v1olet on August 14, 2009

Large deer widely distributed throughout Europe, Asia and North Africa. A full-grown male (stag or hart) stands 1.2 m/4 ft at the withers, and typical antlers measure about 80 cm/31 in in length with a spread of about the same. During the breeding season the colour is a rich brown, turning grey at the approach of winter. The young are spotted with white.

The red deer Cervus elaphus is in family Cervidae, order Artiodactyla.

The darker line on the backbone looks very outstanding. Bambi is a lovely one, I love the story of Bambi since I was young.

vanilla, icy : thanks

rainfield, Jackie : I love Bambi. I remember when I was in pre-school many years ago, my school bag, lunch box, tumbler, and pencil case had Bambi character on them. I wonder if children today knew about Bambi.

I love seeing the spots on deer. It makes me think of Bambi too. This is the way I always imagined deer looked like when I was a kid.

Beautiful shot!
And yepp, the stags are more than impressive.
Even females can scare the living daylights out of you when they break out of a bush right in front of you :)

Emm, Your Daily Cute : thanks

Ratty, Nicole : Yes, I think so. A deer should be spotted with white and has stags. If not, it ain’t deer.
