Britney Spears is a sad testament to the entertainment industry and the worldwide Media in general. The distance between the proposed reality of her publicity agents, marketing experts, music and video production team, management and family, and that of truth becomes greater everyday. There is no doubt that this former child star and fallen pop princess will eventually crack once more. Mental illness is not something that can be brushed aside, however commercially unappealing or unmarketable it may be. The fact the woman can no longer mime or move in time with her backing dancers and the “Prozac enhanced gaze” so evident in recent interviews reveals an individual still in the throws of an inner turmoil, manipulated and exploited for the financial gain of all involved.
The armour maybe chinked but the battle for market domination must once more commence, there is no time for sentimentality in the music industry. With so much at stake no one close to her dares allow the truth to ruin their chances of marketing this highly successful “product”. She is a martyr to her fame, and thus I have referenced the Shrine of Joan of Arc at Reims Cathedral for this piece. Spears of Destiny is the latest in the Indoor Street Art series available at PaulBaines.co.uk as a limited edition print (up to 44″ x 55″).
